Marc Jacobs in China expansion | IR News | Inside Retail Asia
US
luxury Fashion brand MARC JACOBS is planning an expansion in China on a scale that
would make the market its largest outside the US, reports South China Morning
post.
The
plan will see MARC JACOBS opening five to six stores a year in Mainland China
over coming years, with initial focus on the first-tier cities, says its CEO
Bertrand Stalla-Bourdillon. The brand
currently has 25 stores in Mainland.
“Clearly
the mainland China market has a great potential, “said the CEO.
“For
China and Chinese consumers, I think our brand has to be here, so we will
invest a lot in our distribution network in the coming years,” he added.
The
successful business in Japan gave the company faith and confidence to expand in
other markets such as China.
“Japan
is our number one foreign country market for now and I think China has the
potential to be the next Japan,” said Stalla-Bourlidong.
MARC
JACOBS also plans to add three (3) to five (5) stores annually in Hong Kong,
where it has thirteen (13) stores in the present time.
